Chamberlain Unveils the Powerhouse Ancient Technologies EP
Story by: Trevor Di Carlo
Chamberlain unveils his latest psychedelic treat, the Ancient Technologies EP, set to release on Gravitas Recordings June 19th. This follows up on his 2018 EP Phasm Chasm with six new phenomenal heaters to enjoy. Chamberlain has made a multitude of festival appearances in recent years, including Elements, Envision, and Shake The Dust. Interestingly, his collaboration with Kindred, “Opus One,” has racked up nearly half a million views on xKitos’ YouTube channel.
Diving into the new EP, the first taste of experimental bass on the release is “Lippy.” A hard hitting bassline connects with clean robotic synthesizers to provide an energetic feel. Choppy vocal samples match up with the spliced up rhythm to give the track a bit more texture.
Venturing into the wilderness with “Jungle Whispers,” this second song has an otherworldly tribal vibe. The underlying drum layer matched with an infectious grinding bass rhythm makes for an extreme listening experience. It's so easy to get lost in the flow of this song, as the overall sound and trance-like composition have the ability to take you to a fresh new world.
Chamberlain packs electrifying distortion into the next track “Dust.” The intro starts out funky, but quickly progresses with thumping bass and an extraterrestrial synth - definitely a bass music gem! In the event you can’t get enough of this song, Zebbler Encanti Experience’s accelerated remix of “Dust” is featured at the end of the EP.
“Jellyfish” branches out a bit, flowing with a celestial sounding bass. It’s crafted alongside some well-producer sound effects to keep in line with the vibe of the EP.
Lastly, Chamberlain teams up with Projekt CC on “Stories Under Stars.” Wisely titled, this track is perfect for kickin it under the stars and pondering the endless universe. The song starts with surprisingly ambient noises, but the bass quickly returns to bring the EP full circle with its familiar sound on the final tune.
Overall Ancient Technology reflects Chamberlain's meticulously innovative take on bass music. His meticulous and attentive approach has him primed to breakout on the national festival scene once things get started again
