GRGLY Gets Cookin’ With Latest Concoction “Brain Splat Soup” [Moon Lvnding Premiere]

Article by: Ryan Hood

The underground is brimming with bass music’s future stars, and few burn as brightly as North Carolina-based GRGLY. For his first self-release of the year, he’s cooked up a delicious glitch-hop bop “Brain Splat Soup,” showcasing outstanding sound design and groove. MoonLvnding is proud to share the exclusive premiere of this out-of-the-world track.

After releasing an EP on New Year’s Eve 2021, Alex Gergely, aka GRGLY, is off to a scorching start in 2022. He has announced multiple festival bookings, including a slot on one of the bass scene’s fastest-growing festivals, Sound Haven. He also launched his own imprint Recreational Space Odyssey, recently releasing a compilation on the label.

“Brain Splat Soup” might be one of my favorite track titles of the year so far, and it has the sonic chops to back it up. Background harmonies and a plucky bassline quickly give way to clean, punishing sub bass and a heavily-distorted topline melody. A minimal mix allows the percussion and melodies to shine as the variable bassline takes listeners on a ride. This is a track I am dying to hear on a Funktion One sound system.

We’re very much looking forward to what GRGLY and the rest of the RSO crew have for the rest of 2022 and beyond. For now, pull up a chair and enjoy your “Brain Splat Soup!”
