High Zombie drops new single “Pip Squeak”

Article by: Jessica Duncan

Rising Colorado multi-genre producer High Zombie today releases “Pip Squeak” on Excision’s Subsidia Records today. He’s previously had releases on Kayzo’s imprint Welcome Records and Dim Mak’s New Noise imprint over the last year.

High Zombie is known for combining bass, trap, and hard dance elements in his track and “Pip Squeak” wastes no time, going straight into a buildup of distorted cymbal crashes and snares. That combination can definitely be heard with hardstyle-influenced kick drums and the trap beat of the drop. He also utilizes metallic sounds layered over a high-pitched synth that are typically heard in dubstep and riddim. All of this blends together into two-and-a-half minutes of high-octane bass music.

According to High Zombie, “When writing Pip Squeak, I thought ‘why not make a lead that’s high pitched with sharpened pluck synths’ and that was when I realized how unique and fun Pip Squeak was – hence the name.”
