Ravenscoon Sounds The Alarm With New EP ‘Inertia’
Article by: Ryan Hood
Ravenscoon’s rise through the bass music ranks has been nothing short of breathtaking. The growth of a budding bass music superstar has culminated in some of his best work to date, and Inertia is no exception. His latest full release on Wakaan, Inertia represents the inevitable and powerful force Ravenscoon has become, decimating club and festival crowds with his massive bass sound and vocal chops.
The EP’s opening track and lead single “Speakaz” sets the tone for the EP, as the big, oscillating bass synths and vocal chops are present throughout. “Free Your Mind” keeps the pace during its first drop then gives way to a reverb-laden trap beat as Ravenscoon taps into his wide breadth of musical influences. “Like That” is one of the heaviest tunes in Ravenscoon’s discography, flipping the proverbial bird to anybody doubting this project’s vision, including his internal demons.
“Velocity” takes inspiration from modern tearout as it ups the tempo to 150bpm. I can already picture this track turning a crowd of thousands into madness. “Deeper” explores more melodic aspects of the Ravenscoon project, utilizing massive bass patches under soothing backing harmonies. “Inertia” utilizes a similar song structure while employing vocals from numerous other Ravenscoon tracks. He’s talked at length about how his production is geared toward his live sets, and many of his tracks can be mixed seamlessly.
Ravenscoon is one of the hottest up-and-comers in the bass music community, finding success with releases Revolve, Rapid Eye Movements, and Mind. He has several noteworthy festival bookings coming up including Sonic Bloom, Summer Camp, and Deep Tropics. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for this immensely talented producer.
