Westend Comes Correct with New EP “Collide”

Article by: Sam Wolloch

Budding tech-house talent Westend has finally released his highly-anticipated EP Collide on Insomniac Music Group’s flagship label, Insomniac Records. This comes hot on the heels of his Insomniac Records debut of the single “Prickly Pear,” which features as one of four songs on this awesome EP.

Westend starts the album with the title track “Collide,” which begins with silky smooth vocals and a fun poppy beat. But heed the warning of the singer, “Touch me and I only feel cold hands,” and make sure to warm things up before going in for a touch. The next song is the tasty and bubbly “Prickly Pear,” covered here on Moon Lvnding for its release three weeks ago.

The third track is “La Musica” and is definitely all about the music. Westend develops his most dark and mysterious soundscape on this one, using a chanting sample to great effect. Concluding the EP is “What I Want,” another upbeat and bouncy tune. The driving vocals on this one leave listeners with an important and inspiring message: “I can be, all the things I want to be.”

All in all, Westend works wonders on his first EP with Insomniac Records and the dance music world is taking notice of his tech house talents. In addition to gracing our Moon Lvnding charity livestream with a sweet house set back in May 2020, Westend was also slated to play the Spring 2020 elrow event at NYC’s famed Avant Gardner. And just this past Thursday, Westend was revealed on the phase one lineup for his hometown festival, New York City’s Electric Zoo on Labor Day weekend in 2021.
